"Dream Big" Camp Information

 

Deanna Smith, Director of The Woodlands High School Highsteppers will host her annual summer drill team camp beginning on Monday, June 4, 2018 at The Woodlands High School - 9th Grade Campus.

 

This four-day camp, which runs through Thursday, June 7, 2018 is a fantastic opportunity for young dancers (rising K through 9th grades) to have fun, experience a variety of different dance styles and improve their overall flexibility and technique. 

 

Curriculum

 

Activities and curriculum vary by age group...

 

• K - 3rd Grades:  Daily dance themes in pom, jazz, hip-hop and prop

• 4th - 6th Grades:  Daily dances with an introduction to stretching and kicking

 

Grades K - 6th participants also enjoy dailly snacks, drinks, awards and having their picture taken with a Highstepper.  Older dancers will learn more advanced concepts and routines...

 

• 7th - 8th Grades:  Pep Rally Jazz, Field Routines, Kick and Strech Technique & Victory Line

• 9th Grade:  Pep Rally Jazz, Field Kick and Prop Routines

 

Camp Attire

 

During the camp, dancers need to be comfortable and wear attire which allows freedome of movement.  The following is suggested attire and items to bring to camp...

 

• Short, t-shirt or dance apparel

• Tennis shoes or soft soled dance shoes (jazz or ballet) and socks

• Water bottle

 

Younger dancers should also bring a bag with their name on it to keep camp goodies in during the day.

 

Every camper gets a t-shirt!

 

Participant Cost

 

The cost for participation in this exciting four-day event is as follows:

 

>>Registrations post-marked or dropped off at TWHS before May 25, 2018 are $150.00 per student

>>Registrations received after May 25, 2018 are $175.00 and are based on availability​​​​​​​​
